Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park is a very grand name for a national park don’t you think, and with very good reason actually, because Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park is a very grand place indeed. There are no other canyons in the US with the combination of sheer walls, narrow openings and death defying drops like you’ll find at Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park. Some of the fastest birds in the world live here, and no, I’m not talking about Road Runner – beep beep – I’m talking about the Peregrine Falcon which can perform an estimated 200 mph dive – incredible.

What’s the weather like? Well, that really depends on whether you’re in the canyon floor, or way up high on the canyon rim. In the summer you can expect temperatures anywhere between 60 and 100 deg F in the daytime, plunging to 30 – 50 degrees at night-time. Winter temperatures range from 20 – 40 degrees during the day, and a rather chilly -10 to 20 degrees at night-time.

Oh my word, I’ve come over all dizzy . . .

That’s better!

Just think, they’ll have to climb all the way back up again with their fish – and all in the name of relaxation.
