Kenai Fjords National Park is like taking a trip back to the Ice Age – great movies, especially Scrat the Saber Tooth Squirrel, we could all learn a lot from his persistance – anyway, Kenai Fjords National Park is a great place to visit whether you’ve seen the movie or not!  You might not see any Saber Tooth Squirrels but there are still bears, whales and ice worms who call this place home.

Kenai Fjords National Park is only accessible by road in one area, Exit Glacier, which makes this a very popular place to visit for walking (you can get extremely close to an active volcano) and really experiencing the way that glaciers forged the landscape, and how, amazingly, plants still manage to survive on the rocky surfaces as the glaciers retreat.  Another fantastic way to experience Kenai Fjords National Park is by boat, with boat tours along the coastline and up the tidewater glaciers – it’s a great way to find out about the marine wildlife which survives in these chilly waters.  If you’re really the adventurous type you can get up close and personal with the marine wildlife in a kayak, if you’re lucky. It’s important that you wrap up warm for a visit to Kenai Fjords National Park, with plenty of layers and prepare for wet weather, especially from around September onwards.

What a fantastic sight. Isn’t it great to see wildlife just having fun, naturally . . .

Pretty amazing stuff huh?
