Yellowstone National Park is probably one of the most famous national parks in America, after that famous national park from which it took it’s name of course – Yogi (smarter than the average bear Boo Boo)  Bear’s Jellystone. Which came first? I bet there are a few cartoon lovers who would have to think about that one for just a cotton picking minute . . .  Actually, Yellowstone National Park very definitely did come first, it was the first national park in America so how about that, established in 1872. Lots of bears live in Yellowstone National Park too, most famously the Grizzly bears (watch out Yogi), as well as wolves, elk and bison. Then of course there’s Old Faithful (the geyser, not the yellow labrador dog) as well as many other hot springs and geysers, not forgetting the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.

There are lots of great things to do in Yellowstone National Park – hiking, fishing, camping, wildlife spotting but do watch out for changeable weather – most of the park is higher than 7,500 feet and the weather is very unpredictable up there. Cold winters, moderate summers and sudden storms are a very real feature of Yellowstone National Park.

And Yogi Bear was nowhere to be seen, he must be still at Jellystone.
