Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm really is a place where history lives on, with some great programs and opportunities to see how farm life has changed over the years. You might be amazed at how things have progressed, especially the younger visitors anyway. This park has been through quite an evolution program itself, starting out life as a plantation home during the 1812 war, then becoming a hospital farm and finally becoming the park which is there for you to visit today.

If you’re always telling your grand-kids about the “good old days” when life was simple and at a much gentler pace, then you definitely need to take a trip to Oxon Hill Farm (the main feature within the park), so that they can experience it themselves.  How about taking a wagon ride, they certainly go at a gentle pace, and maybe try your hand at milking a cow – by hand. Some kids these days think that milk comes from a supermarket  so are in for a bit of a shock!

The Maryland climate has four distinct seasons – summers are hot and humid with the risk of afternoon thunderstorms, winters are cold with a risk of snow storms, spring and fall are somewhere in between. Take your rain-gear with you and wrap up warm in winter – easy.

Well they certainly enjoyed it, and are now under no illusion of where milk comes from. Keep up the good work.

I’m not sure that the rooster would enjoy being called “pretty” – no wonder he flapped his wings. Anyway, you get the message – Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm is a great place for kids.
